About Me:
Well, I just celebrated the one-year anniversary of my bone marrow transplant, so….as the saying goes…..I guess I'll live! What a surprise! ;)
I just read that recovery is just as truly a 'crisis' as getting sick was in the first place. It totally makes sense to me. Now I gotta figure out what to do with the rest of my life, which I truly thought was not gonna be an issue….
(From July, 2006) Just came home after a long stay at the hospital. I'm recovering from a bone marrow transplant. No fun, obviously, but a real miracle combining both medical technology and body wisdom. I am incredibly grateful to an anonymous donor in Germany.
Since I was diagnosed with a bone marrow disorder two years ago (and then leukemia last year), my perspective, priorities and general attitude toward life has changed more dramatically and completely than I would ever have imagined.
I'm grateful, happy and a bit surprised to be alive! I feel I've been given a second chance at life and I want it to mean something. I'm not sure what it is yet, but I want to do something different.
“…and all of a sudden, life was gorgeous broken glass.”
